Celebrities That Don't Take Their Roles Seriously...

Okay, usually I'm respectful of celebrities personal lives. I have a few friends that are celebrities and frankly, it's just their job and their professional lives are not usually a reflection on whom they are personally.

I will refrain from using CAPS but I am extremely annoyed. Annoyed that a girl such as Rihanna (she's a singer in case you don't know whom she is) that was recently "allegedly" assaulted by Chris Brown (another celebrity singer). Yes, they are high profile celebrities and influence on young people. Their images were everywhere when this incident happened. I recall my eleven year old daughter coming home to tell me it's what they were all talking about at school.

I just learned today they're back together. Classic denial. I have lost all respect. Coming from experience, if it happens once, it WILL happen again.

Rihanna, I don't know you personally but YOU are an influence to young girls everywhere. Sure, it's your "personal" life but you have such a responsibility. What kind of message are you sending girls? Seriously, I have always taken a stand on matters such as this.

I for one....am boycotting your music. You will no longer be in my home or vehicle. Extreme? Perhaps. I don't respect what you are doing and will not permit you to be any influence to my children when you are clearly sending the wrong message.

I will pray for you and find encouragement and strength. Self-love and empowerment.

I am very disappointed in women taking two steps back....

Girls or women. If you are in an abusive relationship GET OUT. You are never alone and if you cannot turn to a family member, there are organizations and shelters. Most especially if you have children, look at them and be the example to these little eyes looking up at you. Abuse only escalates. By staying, you're basically saying it's okay to happen. If it escalates, well, you may not be around any longer for those little eyes to look up to you. I am not a professional on matters like this but from personal experience. I had the strength and support to get out. We're smart women in this day and age with many resources.

****Empowering Women, Inspiring Change****

EDITED NOTE: I neglected to add some very important links. I met a woman today whom said she read my blog! So if this IS going to make an impact then I need to be responsible and help educate. If you're in an abusive relationship and don't know where to turn there are places to help you in the community. You are not alone....don't be afraid to ask for help but you MUST get out of your situation, be strong and survive.
